Delicately Defeated


Lying on the floor with his back against the wall, he knows that they are probably watching him right now.
Grinning, he takes the familiar knife out of his pocket.

He looks at the delicate lines of its sharpness.
He looks at the delicate streak of blood that rushes out of his wound as he cuts himself.
He forces himself bleed. But it’s not possible. No sign on his skin already.
He wishes he could scar himself, he wishes he could die and end this torment.

Defeated, he closes his eyes, knowing he will wake up again into his nightmare.

The Prison Within - Chapter Two

Soon after, they started her on the pills. The pills to suppress her ability.

I didn’t know if they really worked at first. I don’t think so, because every time they took her into the examination room she would come running out ten minutes later and she would run towards my room. She would stop in front of the glass wall that separated us and she would stand there looking at me with those beautiful eyes.

And, as if some other me - someone who resembled a human being again, someone who held hope again- took over, I would get up from my bed, walk up to the glass and I would stand there, looking into her clear, blue eyes.


One day she ran up to the door to my cell and with her hands she electrified the lock, melting it under her touch, until there was nothing left to separate us!

If I was drunk enough, I would do him and then waste him.

Elusive


He leans in closer to her as she sleeps. Beautiful, innocent,unaware.
She calmly breathes in and out. One breath at a time. Her breathing almost resembles a song, he thinks. A tune stuck in his head. A tune that would stick in his head for years to come.
Her eyelids are closed but her eyes move frantically just beneath them.
She is dreaming. For a moment he stands still. She is dreaming. Peaceful and blissful in her ignorance.
He wishes he had that luxury. To be blissfully ignorant. To not have a purpose. To be able to go wherever he wants. Joyful, unaware. Just happy with what he has and what he is. Never wanting more, never needing more. Complete, sufficient.

He wishes he could dream but he doesn’t dream. He hasn’t dreamt in years.

Revolve

Her feet move frantically yet mechanically. They just follow one another. She knows what she has to do but it isn’t getting any easier. Her feet feel heavy. Her breathing grows shallow. She pauses and leans against the wall. Defiant, yet hesitant. Oh, so hesitant.
She thought she was strong. After joining the “company” she felt like she had some purpose. Clarity. That is what they truly offered her. That’s what she got. That was why she continued to stay with them.
